NATHAN WILLIAMSI don't want to do this alone. If elected I am being chosen to volunteer for four years as a representative. I will be representing students, families, teachers, staff, the administration, and other stakeholders. I want to work with ALL of them. I want to be approachable, reachable, informed, compassionate, strong, and determined to represent my position as best as I can and with the drive and passion I am bringing to it now. Please help me in achieving that. Students in particular I ask that you never forget that while you may not be able to vote just yet, you still have a voice and a voice that deserves to be heard just as much as any other. Use it and allow me to be an advocate for you. |
Top Thing he Wants to Accomplish
I want to bring a new level of involvement to our district. The more "buy-in" or belief we have in the things being done, choices being made, the more involvement we'll have and commitment for more that we'll get. I plan to do that by doing what I do now, leading by example. There is a ton of good out in the world still and all we need to be is a pebble. If given the platform I'm running for, my pebble just might make a little bigger ripple and that is invaluable. One person at a time.
What Experiences, Past jobs, or Education makes him qualified for School Board?
My experiences are vast and I'm proud of that. I've worked across many different fields in the professional world, I'm a husband and parent of four kids, and I've been an avid volunteer in our schools.
I've held jobs in customer service ranging from courtesy clerk at a grocery store, working my way up to Assistant Manager of a Wells Fargo Bank branch, Firefighter for the last 20 years, and so much more. The ability to serve others has been a particularly rewarding choice for myself and I've been in different positions and gained lots of experience throughout many of them!
I'm a married father of four kids who range across all levels of our school system. Our son is in 2nd grade, then we have three daughters spread out between 6th, 8th, and 9th grade. Alongside my wife I have been an active parent in classrooms ever since I was able to with our oldest and much more. I have served as Athletic Director for Pat Butler twice, coached many sports over the years for our elementary schools (as well as in our community), volunteered in school activities and chaperoned many field trips over the years, currently serve as PTO President at Flamson Middle School and quite a bit more.
I bring a unique outlook, experience and desire to my candidacy but it all revolves around our kids, the students. Every decision should be made to better them. Better things for our teachers means better things for our kids. A better environment with updated technology, classrooms and other essential (and sometimes non-essential) items benefit our kids. All has to be done with accountability and responsibility but it can be done.

Why did he decide to run? I have actually been asked to run by many for a few years now and I finally came to the decision that while I'm not looking for a title, position or even the ability to make decisions, my priorities and desires make me the right person TO help make those decisions. I am the person that will be on campus, in classrooms, at meetings, at events and of course at meetings. I want things better for my kids which in turns means better things for ALL kids.

How will he respond to COVID-19 as a member of the School Board? We have to communicate what's happening, why it's happening and what's going to happen. Things won't go well if we are divided or on different pages more than is necessary. With so many opinions and feelings out there we need to do our best as a school district to build trust from families that the decisions being made, even if not always the most popular, are thought out, relevant and for the most good of all. So more of that. Beyond that we have to continue to be educating ourselves on options and impacts.
